HYPE Athletics and Detroit Lions Thanksgiving Giveaway

On Friday, November 18th, Detroit Lions players partnered with Dearborn organization, HYPE Athletics, Meijer and Saad Wholesale to donate and pass out turkeys and full Thanksgiving meals to 500 Detroit families on behalf of the Children’s Aid Society and families from the HYPE Athletics. The distribution took place all afternoon at The Family Place on Woodward Avenue on a sunny afternoon in Detroit. As the oldest child welfare agency in Michigan, the mission of the Children’s Aid Society is to help children, youth and families in metropolitan Detroit, with a special focus on those most at-risk.

For the second consecutive year, several Lions’ players teamed together to gather enough food for 500 Thanksgiving meals to be given out to families in need. The entire group of defensive backs as well as other members contributed to the project.

Players participating in the HYPE Athletics and Detroit Lions Thanksgiving project were: Aaron Berry, Don Carey, Erik Coleman, Louis Delmas, Vincent Fuller, Chris Harris, Chris Houston, Brandon McDonald, Alphonso Smith, Amari Spievey, Maurice Stovall, Ricardo Silva, Kyle VandenBosch, John Wendling, Corey Williams and Eric Wright. Some of these players were on hand to distribute the food to the families, while others were behind the scenes in preparation.
