Community Housing Network: Raise the Roof

On October 6 2011, Community Housing Network hosted their annual “Raised the Roof for Affordable Housing” fundraiser at the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester, MI where supporters contributing more than $67,000 to help people with disabilities and those who are homeless get into long-term, successful housing. Guests of Raise the Roof enjoyed a fun evening featuring an open bar, auctions, a sit-down dinner, and more!

Community Housing Network’s annual “Raise the Roof for Affordable Housing” event has raised nearly $300,000 since 2001. Donor contributions made it possible for CHN to provide: a state-of-the art Housing Resource Center that helps people who are in housing crisis; permanent supportive housing and development of affordable housing for people who are homeless or living with a disability; homeownership and lease-to-purchase counseling; housing planning for people with developmental disabilities and their families; property management of residences for people with disabilities; and more. Join Community Hosuing Network and metro Detroit’s community leaders and support this annual event through one of the many sponsorship opportunities available.

Community Housing Network Highlights in 2010

Fielded a record 12,536 calls to our Housing Resource Center, a more than 400 percent increase over the prior year. Callers were provided with programs and resources in response to their housing questions. Continued to be the largest permanent supportive housing provider in Oakland and Macomb counties, serving 502 adults and children who were previously homeless, in need and living with a disability. Continued to create affordable housing for people with disabilities, bringing the total number of units to more than 600 since 2001 (includes Leasing Assistance Program units). Celebrated 90 formerly homeless permanent supportive housing program participants who moved on to greater independence. Three participants purchased their own home. Provided property and leasing management for more than 2,000 units of affordable housing serving as residences for people with disabilities in Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties. Broke ground on our first-ever new construction residences, four homes/12 units of affordable rental housing for people with disabilities, funded by the HUD Section 811 program. Only 3.2% of revenues were spent on administrative cost.
